As a print designer, I consider myself a “2-D” artist. I’ve always had a respect for those that can work in 3D, especially those that can sculpt. I ran across the work of Paul Eppling and was blown away by his creativity and his chosen medium…used auto parts! The detail that goes into his metal sculptures is just amazing.
Paul is a St. Petersburg sculptor, well known in Florida for his metallic animals. According to blogger Mark Ruffner, “Paul Eppling was working in a metal shop in the 1970s when he first had the idea to fabricate an animal from metal parts and scraps. Since then he’s welded hundreds of animals, big and small.”
